When The Heart Wins Over The Mind
It all began eight years ago, when this little creative world of mine came to life. As a girl, I dreamed a beautiful dream. The road to it was a little longer — it led through the lecture halls of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, all the way to a ceramics course.
2004 — Faculty of Civil Engineering. A choice of the mind.
2017 — Ceramics course. A choice of the heart.
The heart won.
Today I am a proud ceramicist and a certified traditional craftsperson.
Behind the Joska Handmade brand stands me — Jovana Radenković, but everyone calls me Joška.
I am a forever lover of freedom, black-and-white films, sixties music, and refined aesthetics. I am opposed to molds and other people's expectations, and as a recovering perfectionist (civil engineering did leave its mark!), I pour all my patience, stubbornness, and love into creating something truly unique.
When someone once asked me to describe myself in one word, I said: Simple. Years later I realized that simplicity is not something to be ashamed of, but a value worth striving for.
That simplicity and purity of form live on today through my work.
A Story Woven Through Porcelain
My desire and vision with the Joška Handmade story is to bring art into your everyday rituals. I want the act of drinking your first morning coffee from an extraordinary cup, or choosing details for your home, to make each of your days feel special, even if just for a moment.
All pieces are meticulously handcrafted from the finest French porcelain and hand-painted with engobes. The emphasis is on details inspired by nature and those fine, inner emotions that working with clay coaxes out of the subconscious onto the surface.
Beauty Takes Patience: Before a piece reaches you, it passes through a series of stages – from long drying and fine finishing to hand-painting, glazing, and finally, the application of 24k gold as a finishing touch that lends a note of elegance to everything. This entire process takes between two and three weeks of pure handcrafting.
Small Wearable Art Pieces
My first love was jewelry making, which later naturally expanded into functional ceramics. I view each piece of jewelry as a tiny art sculpture sculpted from porcelain.
The jewelry I create is characterized by clean forms, minimalist dimensions, and delicacy. It is crafted with the intention of making art a part of your everyday style and expression. And no matter how small it may be, it will always be noticed – because small things become great when they are filled with lots of love.
My ultimate goal is for you to always feel that love, invested time, and energy whenever you hold my work in your hands.
